August 2012 – Bulls for Sale semen tested and ready to go

Our Bulls for Sale were all semen tested in early August and have all passed, all showing excellent motility. Please remember our bulls are all sold privately at Mt Brisbane. They are prepared on native pastures, receiving no supplementary feeding. They are ready to go out and work for you. Only the bulls we would use ourselves are offered for sale, they have survived strict temperament culling and come with our full fertility guarantee. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and arrange an inspection.

August 2012 – John & Carli awarded life membership of the Droughtmaster Society

Droughtmaster Life Membership awarded to Mt Brisbane Droughtmaster StudTo their amazement John & Carli were awarded Life Membership of the Droughtmaster Society during Droughtmaster judging at the EKKA. This is in recognition of the many years they have both worked in and for the Droughtmaster Society, including 13 years served between them as Board Members, the establishment and the writing of the Society Newsletter for 13 years. The many years involved in the promotional activities of the breed, most notably the Farmfest and AgShow breed displays. Together with over 30 years of successfully exhibiting and promoting the Droughtmaster Breed through carcase, prime cattle, led steer and stud cattle competitions.

August 2012 – Don judges the Droughtmaster breed at the Ekka

In his most coveted judging role to date, Don was honoured to have been invited to judge the Droughtmaster breed at this years Ekka. 

August 2012 – Mt Brisbane stars in new Honda ATV Ad

After many years of buying Honda ATV’s and being particularly happy with their performance, we were approached by Honda to make an ad on the property involving the whole family. Despite a very wet day, we had a whole lot of fun.  Great crew to work with in Honda Motorcycles and Furphy Media. See below the finished product and a lighthearted ‘behind the scenes’ clip. July 2012 – Ian named National Rural Ambassador – Runner Up for 2012

After representing Kilcoy Show Society and taking out the Queensland Title of Rural Ambassador in 2011, Ian travelled to Darwin in late July to contest the National Final.  With representatives from each state and New Zealand, Ian was successful in being named Runner Up.  The eventual winner was the New Zealand representative, so Ian is now known as the ‘Australian Rural Ambassador’.  Congratulations Ian.

June 2012 – Toogoolawah Show – Prime Cattle Results

Our 3rd & final show for the year, hoping for a repeat of our earlier successes at Kilcoy & Esk. While we weren’t lucky enough to win a champion we were still very pleased with how our purebred Droughtmasters performed in a yarding of 254 head, dominated by Charolais & Charolais cross cattle.

May 2012 – Bulls for Sale

Some updated pictures of this years bulls are now available on the Bulls for Sale page.  These bulls have been prepared on native pastures only, they are aged between 18-22 Months at the time the pictures were taken in late May.  As is our practice of selling bulls with a full fertility guarantee, we will conduct semen testing on the bulls by early September with the bulls available for sale after this.  All sales are made in the paddock with the bulls ready to go out and work for you.

Ian has accepted a role with WWF (World Wildlife Fund) as Project Coordinator – Sustainable Beef, leaving behind a long career in extension work with DEEDI (formally DPI).  View Beef Central article

Don and Andrea's wedding7th January 2012

Congratulations to Don and Andrea on their wedding, marrying 70 years to the day after Don's Grandparents Keith and Barbara McConnel.  Don and Andrea have made their home on Mt Brisbane.
