September 2013 - Bull Purchases

Great to be a part of the Droughtmaster National (DN) sale again this year after missing last year. We ended up with 6 new sires to be used across the stud and commercial herds. We were especially happy to have purchased Lot 54 Talgai Huston for $5,000 with these sale proceeds so generously donated by the Veivers Family to the Kim Walters Choices Program. A program run through the Wesley hospital supporting women and their families affected by cancer.  Thanks also to selling agents Savage, Barker & Backhouse (SBB) for waiving all selling costs.

June 2013 – Toogoolawah Show Success

Mt Brisbane - Toogoolawah Show Champion Pen of SteersOur final show for the year, we took a team of both grassfed & grainfed cattle over to Toogoolawah for their centenary show. A big yarding of 396 head with cattle sourced from the Brisbane Valley, Sth Burnett and down to Goondiwindi. Again, as we see in our local area, a very strong Charolais influence in the whole yarding, very pleased with how our purebred Droughtmasters performed. Pictured are the Champion Pen of Pasture Fed Steers or Bullocks. The two tooth pen had an average weight of 597kg and sold for an average price of $970/hd.

Esk Show hosted a Droughtmaster feature show this year, and while we didn’t show any stud cattle, we entered a team of Grassfed & Grainfed cattle in the Prime cattle.  It was an exceptional weekend for our cattle in a yarding of over 150 head dominated by European cattle.  Our steer in the carcase was the only non-Euro bred beast.
